Chapter- 16

Mutual intolerance and hatred are two major mind sets of this time. The right to freedom of expression is considered one of the many important fundamental rights in almost all countries. It does not of course mean that by virtue of this right, one is permitted to attack or injure anybody mentally. Neither it is desirable that one should be too sensitive against any adverse opinion and overreact to it and counter attack. It is said that listening to pleasing words is a bliss. It is like water to a thirsty person. But in contemporary society sweet words are scarce and harsh words are plenty. Each of us is after somebody else and we are busy in disgracing others with our harsh words. It is not right to attack or threaten somebody if he is not liked by me. Torture - physical or mental - is never acceptable. And it is also illegal and unethical. If this attitude of hatred continues every clan, creed, religion or country will be destroyed. I may differ with other’s opinions but I should have ample patience to listen and express my different opinion politely. One should not cross the limit of courtesy, etiquette and decency. This is a basic thing one can expect from others normally.

One can live a normal, transparent life honestly but a luxurious and enjoying life demands much more. One section of people has started believing in this lifestyle. A reckless lifestyle gives temporary pleasure but a lot of money is required for this choice. Trying to get enormous money, people involve themselves in unethical and illegal activities. Child and women trafficking, smuggling, drug peddling are some of the criminal activities. Illegal activities may bring enormous money temporarily but ultimately they end with severe punishment. The Mother Earth is immaculately pure. She cannot tolerate evil deeds. It is only waiting for a while. Ultimately the old saying will be true – ‘Crime does not pay’. The victims of those illegal activities - the children, the women - have also the right to live normally and peacefully with their families. Also, they have the right to enjoy the beauty of the Earth. Those who are responsible for the consequence of the ill-fated children or women must have to face due punishment. The drug peddlers intend to pull the society down to profound darkness. They target the youth who lose their sense and waste their merit, workability and conscience. They become totally separated from their families and the known world. Once addicted, they do immoral activities to earn for their drugs. Ultimately the correctional centres become their shelters. It means the drug peddlers are also creating a section of criminals as well. Immoral activities can be stopped if everyone understands that to drift down the stream of enjoyment is not life. Love for the Earth and its beneficiaries and the due care for them is the real-life where the eternal peace exists.
