Chapter 7

The word 'dominate' is a small one but it's pressure is immense. A powerful person always wants to dominate the weak ones around him with his power, by all means, compels him to suppress his desire, his choice and his achievement. This is the common picture for a family or for a country. Dominance, to some people, is considered a fashion or status symbol. Dominated persons often consider their condition as destiny. He gradually forgets his own self, his own separate entity. Then to obey the powerful becomes his only aim in life. Rabindranath in his dance drama 'Tasher Desh' depicts how a dominating force suppresses the emotions and spontaneity of Spades, Diamonds, Clubs and Hearts of the land of cards in the name of imposing rules and conduct. Actually, dominating approach always wants to get hold of others' lives. There is no end to this dominating tendency. The attitude of the dominance of the strong over the weak has been evident in history. But if we follow the empirical evidence, we will find that since the ancient age till today those who are known as powerful kings or tyrant rulers are the subject of hatred and disliking in the minds of latter generations. People recollect them as they recollect bad dreams.

This is the worst attitude of man to dominate or torture. This is true for all perspectives and conditions family-wise, among different countries or among different groups of populations. How does a man dare to show this audacity of dominating? All the wealth of this world, be it natural or mineral, is owned solely by the Mother Earth. Wherever they exist, they belong to Mother Earth. She is Almighty. She has handed over all her wealth and resources to us with a smiling face, for our enjoyment and consumption. And that she does always without imposing any condition or restriction whatsoever. She could easily dominate us and show her massive power in every step and sphere. No one is mightier than her. Compared to Mother Earth we are as insignificant as insects are. Insects ultimately get mingled in the dust of land after their death. So do we. No matter how rich, how wise and how powerful we are, we all are destined to be dust particles of this Earth after our death. This is the ultimate consequence of each of the creatures. When this consequence is the same and inevitable for everyone, then it does not make any sense when one tries to dominate another or apply his strength and power to win over.

The attempt to capture and dominate is hateful, disgusting and gruesome. A sensible person cannot support this attempt. Since our birth, till we breathe our last, we stay under the control and regulation of Mother Earth. By her will, we intend to dominate others or we get dominated. Mother Earth is the highest form of power and queen of the entire world. We are under her command and control. All of our status and position are the same. So, the question of dominating others or being dominated does not stand valid.
