Physicians cure physical illness, psychiatrists cure the mental disorder, but who cures the ailment of a soul? We do not know. But I know for certain that I have faced lots of harsh questions on the ailment of a soul. How do I dare to comment on that? What is the basis of my statement on the soul? And so on. At the outset, I do apologize with folded hands for my audacious comment. I do not claim that I am a connoisseur on the subject. But I have come to know from a little bit of my study and going through of course the Gita that the soul is eternal, non-perishable, and shapeless. So long there is life; there is the soul, after death, it leaves the body out. This has led me to the conclusion that the soul is a powerful wave blowing across the Earth. Barring this power, everything is static and lifeless. It occurs to me that the phrase ‘May his soul rest in peace does not carry any meaning as a soul can never be kept confined. It gives an answer to our earlier question- who is the doctor of an ailing soul? The answer is that the soul is an endless wave of power. So, the illness and the cure are irrelevant and inapplicable for a soul. The Soul is a pure and a complete power. Every human being possesses this power inside him.
Here comes the question then- if this pure and complete power is inherent in all human beings then how can we commit ugly and cruel activities and crimes? How is it that every morning we get shocked with so many ghastly news in the newspapers? It is because we know that the soul is pure and sacred only theoretically. We have heard it; we have read it but we do not truly believe it.
Since the pre-historic days, when men and women used to live collectively and work hand in hand to find their livelihood, there had always been a dominance of males over females. With the natural advantage of his strength, man has started believing himself as the owner of the land, living place, pet animals and even women. Women were kept under the control of men. People were later divided into groups but the leader of each group used to enjoy women keeping them under his dominance. Then came the custom of bigamy or polygamy. This sense of dominance and possession has ultimately given birth to rape. The attitude of capturing women is the route of this heinous crime.
Killing the victims after rape is also a common vice in this world. Life lost is an irreparable loss and the living rape victim becomes the permanent moving subject of immense humiliation and shame. The huge blow paralyses her body and mind. She starts losing trust. The known world becomes unknown to her. She seems to be a different entity from what she was before. And ultimately she has to face a tremendous crisis.
The rapist does not bother about the consequence faced by the victim. His instinct never permits him to think over his own family before the crime. This is the ailment of a soul what I had mentioned earlier. The disease of a soul is the disease of lack of consciousness, the inability to recognise one’s own soul.
If the soul is an expanse of power, if the fraction of that power exists in every human being that controls all human activities and if someone realises this truth, then there would not be any ghastly crime like murder or rape possible by him. If the relation is built on the basis of love, then there is nothing more beautiful than it. Love relation between a man and woman has always been beautiful and transparent. It enhances life and life power. And cruel, loveless, greedy desire, on the other hand, destroys lives and civilisations. It creates pain for the Almighty even who perhaps blame Himself for His decision to evolve wild animals into Homosapiens. Was it justified to make human beings more powerful by rendering them intelligence? The Earth also becomes sad. Mother Earth selflessly takes the pain of bearing all the vices and mischiefs of all human beings. She cannot resist the evil happenings all around. It makes her helplessly sad. Man would stop doing mischief only when he would realise the beauty of relationships based on love, trust and mutual dependence. Thus, a relationship will be complete and the civilisation will move forward.
This is what I wanted to point out as getting rid of the disease of a soul with the help of consciousness.
