Chapter - 15

Now I like to write something about our literature. Most of the people are fond of literature because literature is the foundation of civilization and it adds motion and emotion to a civilization. We thought that people would appreciate our project if we want to celebrate the birthday of Mother Earth through poetry, music, and entertainment. The entire world would be eager to do so. Therefore, we created and collected different kinds of music and poetry. So, I personally requested the poets to fulfill my desires. Accordingly, I started taking the initiative for the disclosure of the collected works and invested in them. It was decided that all the works which were in Bengali will be translated into English and other languages too. Initially, I was working in English and Bengali. The rest of the languages will be sorted out later. If people wish to do something, they can do it. English is the prime language that prevails all over the World so; if we can cover this language the major purpose will be served. I will keep the rest of the prominent languages in mind.

Perhaps the whole world will think of doing it. Let us start with the World anthem. We know that our National Anthem “Jana Gana Mana” has been written and composed by the Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore and it is sung or played with honour on the occasion of all days of national importance and in different events. The World Anthem may not be necessarily taken like that. We have made the rules and norms so simple, to make it more applicable for all situations. People might play or sing this Anthem with due respect, honour and love. We have dedicated this World Anthem to the U.N.O. for the entire World peace.

WORLD ANTHEM

1
We are the citizen of the Earth
Oh man – woman and the children.
We born and brought up here with the same heart,
You everybody say,
Love is one and only the way.
Let’s salute our Mother Earth, Oh friends,
Get united, get independent.

2
Alas, we give pain and grief to her!
She cries in veil,
Though she continues no fail...

To giving our needs to share,
But we divide her into many parts near and far,
And it is the word’s pure; ----
Who serves Mother Earth, serves Creator.
You everybody say,
Love is one and only the way.
3
So let’s preserve her in all the sorts,
And go to nurse her at the remotes,
Alas, we get busy smashing her repeatedly,
But we get defeated to smash her greatly,
So all of you say in one love
You everybody say,
Love is one and only the way.

Din, Din, Din!
Di-din-din,
Din, Din, Din!
Di-din-din,
Din, Din, Din!
Di-din-din,
Din-Din.

The next is the beautiful poem written by Tapan Kumar Maiti. Ridendick was too impressed by this poem that he declared it as a legendary piece of work. I differ with Ridendick in many perspectives. It is true that he possesses knowledge of lives and culture more than me. He can analyse and is very long-sighted. His writings are quite enriched and best suited for international platforms. He was much needed for my foundation. His sincerity, his generosity and his honesty inclined me towards him. He is indeed a blessing of Mother Earth. Once Ridendick told me that I should explore people’s talent, so that I may apply their versatility in my work. It will attract a special attraction and many upcoming talents who are behind exposure will get avenues. I have been blessed by the associations of people like Ridendick, which gives me extreme pleasure. I have to say certain things in order to explain this. This is a project to heal the world, a project for the permanent peace of the world, a project for the protection of Mother Earth. It is a part of the project to share our ideas, motives and activities. Without this, our aim will remain unfulfilled.

The poem by Tapan Kumar Maiti is stated below

PRITHIBIR JONMODINE
The original Bengali version by Tapan Kumar Maiti
The English translation by Rituparna Roy Choudhury

THE BIRTHDAY OF MOTHER EARTH

Millions of years back, nothing was there;
No one had no clue, only it was a sphere.
Only moss settled under the water;
Springing with joy and pleasure.
It seeded a life, that sown another life!
The tenor evoked from the vibe.

The almighty painted a frame of art-
To that end, he named it - the holy Earth.
Whatever being created, Earth gained everything.
Among far and wide, all we crave for our well-being.

If Mother Earth is fine fetal, we all are sound;
If She is unhappy - she is cruel, troubles are all around.
When she is calm, she is a mother -
We are from the same womb, we are brothers.

The Buddhists, the Hindus, the Muslims, the Christians;
No one is unlike, there are no exceptions.
The same blood is running in all even and odd:
There is only one connection of the same umbilical cord.

Earth has bestowed us with all its goods -
Never you cared for her, but you could.
Mother Earth didn’t snatch your dreams:
Those you have dreamt in misty beams!

From Earth, We have gained the bliss and laughter.
But how much we love her we had never utter.
She has carried our burden and weight-
But today we are busy in our own interest.

Everything is here, within the Earth -
Air, Water, Ether, Fire and Earth.
The low valleys and high mountains;
The mellow, serene, golden grains.

Mother Nature has served all
gifts in platters, in large and in small.
We should always be grateful to her -
On her birthday, let us be together.

Let us sing the same song.
Let us spring together along.
Let us share our feelings to her -
Let us pray for our Mother -

O Mother Earth, we will always come,
in your heart, in your arms.
Stop cutting trees, plant a life.
Stop killing people, drop the knife.

Save our Earth, from insurrection:
Let the sisters tie their brothers, the thread of salvation.
Let us embrace everything blissful:
Let us pray for a race that is beautiful.

Good things will ever keep coming;
Evil will disappear, will stop harming.
It hardly matters if people say wrong -
All we have to survive, we have to be strong.

The poem was recited by two renowned elocutionists of Kolkata Achena Mandal and Sankarsan Mukherjee in the second year at Natshal. Thousands of people were listening with wonder. If you visit our YouTube channel – ART MOTHER EARTH FOUNDATION, you can feel the whole thing. In the first year, the poem was recited through a recitation competition. The participants were Malabika Maiti, Sucharita Das, Megha Samanta, Rupayan Samanta, and Sathi Mandal.

The Original Bengali Song

Music designed by Madhabi Majumder
Music arranged by Kumar Chanchal
Voice by Sarbari Guha Saha

English translation by Rituparna Roy Choudhury
Music designed and arranged by Indrajit Dey, Indro

Mother earth O Mother Earth
We pay our respects towards you
We are happy and in-debt forever
As we are born and inbred from you

On this golden moment of your birthday
We choose to be happy and gay
By blowing the candle and cutting the cake
We will show our love for your sake

Mother Earth O Mother Earth
We pay our respects towards you
Will adorn your rostrum
with glimmer, shimmer, and dew.
Mother Earth O Mother Earth ... Mother Earth O Mother Earth...
Come forward, don’t stay in abode
If you love Mother Earth, you can support
You have come to spend your life here
You have come out o love, not out of fear
Bestow Mother Earth with a smudge
It may be a rose or a touch
Mother earth is loving, so we live in her
If not then we would have been far

Mother Earth O Mother Earth
Let us be together
To celebrate your Birthday
Let us bind each other
Mother Earth O Mother Earth
Mother Earth O Mother Earth.

It is much important to mention that due to the demand for music in some places the lyrics were changed.  You can enjoy both the songs on our YouTube channel “Art Mother Earth Foundation”. The tune of the English song was different from the Bengali version due to the demand for the language. Initially, if the song was written in English then the tune would have been applicable to any translated language. But in the case of vernacular languages, it had to be, to some extent, regional. We cannot ignore the technical sides.

We can say that our World anthem “We are the citizen of the Earth’’, will not change its tune in case of any translation of the song. The audience has every right to dislike our creations but their appreciation is highly desired to take our foundation forward to the World. In all the videos of these songs, professional models have performed. Puja Majumder, a model, and a vocalist, performed for us. On 9th July 2018, she first sang the World Anthem in the press meet at the Press Club Kolkata. Later for their personal issues, they could not continue and finally, the song was sung by Mou Acharjee.

The last poem which I am going to share now will give a thrill to everyone. This one will bound you to think about the nature and instinct of mankind. If we are scared of self-criticism then how can we change ourselves? This poem has been recited on many television channels and has been rendered in many programs. In 2018, Malabika Maiti recited this on a television channel, High News in 2019. Sucharita Das and Malbika Maiti recited this together at Mahajati Sadan Auditorium, 2019 in our annual event.

Peculiar Mankind
By Ridendick Mitro

It is peculiar the thought of mankind in what way,
That they feel kinds of wrong in saying right every day!
They study many books for higher qualification,
They disclose many kinds of interesting passion.
They travel land to land to amuse outstanding,
They set such kinds of hobbies and colorful dreams.
They buy many kinds of materials and estate to use,
They this way enjoy life with cheerful movement huge.
They beautify body, home, garden, stage, club, and office,
They send the friends thousand-thousand wish.
They learn many types of knowledge and culture,
They with the flight of fancy fly so far!
They dance, sing and play on musical instruments,
They demand that in human shape they are super sensitive.
They maintain hospitality giving comfort to the guest,
They tell a story with him with deeper taste.
They set a statue or picture of a great man to worship,
They follow the annual celebration days after their names in deep.
They love kith and kin sacrificing things including gifts,
They build a unique home of peace and smooth streets.
They keep many kinds of wealth for a successor,
And they earn bad or good money this for.
They want to secure the successors’ life in this method,
They believe someone is there behind the wall namely God.
They donate the body for human’s benefit, with no sound,
They maintain religious creed on cremation ground.
They create literature and invent many surprising things,
They by a little boat for adventure cross the ferocious streams.
They cry for a relative’s death and then live with a painful time,
They take any challenge for a beautiful or ugly shine.
But they didn’t give love and respect to the Mother Earth,
That that Mother gives everything lives and needs with an open heart.
We are grateful to the products of Mother Earth though we deny her,
Alas peculiar! Peculiar! Peculiar!
Man is Peculiar due to more parts of reasons as they say
Helpless means refugees and terrorists and so drive them away.
They draw the lines on the Earth claiming the parts of plots,
And this way they make separate countries in the lots.
They get busy fighting for occupying market or land one another,
Alas! it is called brilliant diplomacy which finishes the peace in the total sphere.
It is more interesting they demand that on another planet
It might bring better peace-life, and so they get ready to set.
On this all-prepared Planet, they didn’t establish just normal life,
Where they get fresh air with huge oxygen, water, climate, family, and free light!
And where they get a chance for friendship and easy source for production,
Including beautiful sights and the taste of respect and love all along.
Here they are destroying all things and bringing a chance to ruin,
So, in how they can bring peace to another planet’s living.
It is more peculiar they praise the peculiar thought holders in them,
Who are not able to set up peace on Earth, but challenge to be alien!
Sorry, my sisters and brothers, I am not getting ready to hold the hands of peculiars,
I believe to change the Mother Earth is my just career.

This chapter ends here and after everything, my heart yearns for Mr. Tapan Kumar Maiti’s song, “Mother-o-Mother Earth, we pay our respect towards you.” Our life begins and ends with Mother Earth, the respect for her is immense.
