‘‘This Earth lies under the blue sky
And, the sky forms a canopy above the Earth’’
Now according to the perspective of my situation, the lyrics of the song should be modified as,
‘’The clouds form a canopy over the blue sky,
And, the Earth lies beyond the clouds.”
On that particular day, the air route from Johannesburg to Mumbai was mostly covered with clouds. As per the epic of Ramayana, during the war between Lord Rama and Ravana (the Emperor of Lanka),
Indrajeet (Ravana’s son) fought with Laxman, positioning himself
behind the clouds.
It seemed that day that God was on the earth and the devil was in the sky.
A similar scenario prevails even today!
‘Keep calm, don’t panic. Adjust your seat in an upright position.
Wear your life jacket right now.’ The voices of the air-hostesses floated in the air.
Some mechanical disturbance was detected in the aircraft. Everyone was estimating that the air-plane would crash soon. However, I was confident that I was a hundred percent safe and secure.
How did I know? Let me say that in the later part of this book.
We were about to land soon in India.
The passenger sitting beside me grabbed my hand so harshly that his nails were piercing into my skin, causing pain to my body. Panic struck the passengers in the flight. The air-hostesses were extremely busy handling the crisis. I was feeling pity for him.
‘Hello, sir! I said.
I had no clue whether he was listening to me or not, since he did not respond. He was in tears, desperately praying to God.
‘May I share a secret with you, Sir ?’ I asked.
Somehow, I was not able to draw his attention to me.
Meanwhile, I kept on thinking about what I would do if the airplane crashes! I would not refrain from my duties towards others. I would try to save at least one person. If this aircraft breaks down and shatters into pieces in the mid-air, then what has God planned to save me! Would I become lighter than a feather and float about in the sky, landing softly on earth! Or, would the weight of my body make me land into some large water body! Maybe a boat is waiting out there to save me. Anyway, I should let God do his work and concentrate on fulfilling my responsibilities.
Suddenly, I hugged the man beside me to assure him, we’re safe.
At that moment, an announcement was made.
‘Keep calm, we are safe. Don’t worry. The plane is going to land safely.
Suddenly, a miracle had happened. The aircraft stopped lurching. We were informed that the situation was under control and we are safe now. The flight will land very soon at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai. The passenger next to me was very happy and exalted. The gentleman thanked me for the support and courage I provided him during the crisis and expressed his gratitude. He introduced himself to me,
‘Hi, I am Cameron Batha, from Durban.’
I introduced myself as Michael, Michael Tarun, a citizen of the Earth.
