Chapter - 6

When I see natural beauties and write about them, very often I think, nature creates beauty very easily and spontaneously as a skilled musician plays an instrument deftly. She creates when she wishes. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist.

Where sky and sea
    Exults in joy
When the night produces
    A magical light
Where the Earth plays
    With her loving friends
Where surprising lights
    Sets dreamy trends
Where rainbow comes down
To kiss the soil of the Earth
There Sky and Sea
    Sings a song
Of a new birth.

In any of the Islands among 1190(s) in the Maldives, anyone can see this magical dreamy festival of Nature in every night! The Earth plays here with her alter ego, the Nature. It's an eternal game which never becomes insipid and mundane. A scientist can explain this in his own way but there is no one in the world who can explain the mystery behind it.

We have earlier discussed about the human-made creations. Now we will shed light on natural wonders where the Earth itself worked. All the most beautiful natural wonders are the creations of the Earth. The wilderness is one of the most widely recognized sources of transcendent emotion. Various recent studies have demonstrated nature's power to induce intense emotions.

Cano Cristales River, Colombia is also known as the river of five colors or "liquid rainbow'. It is noted for its striking colours. The body of the water actually looks pretty normal most of the time - at least it explodes from around July through November.

During this time Macareniaclavigera, a unique plant that lines the bottom of the river turns a vibrant red interspersed with blue water, green moss and yellow sand.

The Tianzi Mountains, China. An inspiration for the alien visages in James Cameron's "Avatar", the mountain range is made up of towers of eroded and exposed rocks giving the place its unique look. Some of the towers are as tall as 4100 feet with sandstone peaks that are 300 million years old.

Antelope Canyon, Arizona, USA - A slot canyon in Arizona. Antelope Canyon is known for its wave-like patterns and tall sandstone-like walls. The canyon's narrow walkways were formed by millions of years of water erosion.

The Giant's Causeway, Northern Ireland - While it's distinct hexagonal columns look man-made, the causeway is a natural occurrence due to volcanic activity in the area millions of years ago. The largest of these columns stands 36 feet high.

Skogafoss, Skogar, Iceland. Skogafoss flows from not one, but two glaciers (Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull). According to legend, a Viking named Thrasi hid his chest of gold under this stunning waterfall. Gold or not the heavy amount of spray that the waterfall produces makes a sunny-day rainbow sighting here very likely.

Badab-e Surt, Iran. Water regularly gathers in the terraces of rust-coloured minerals that turn a fiery red at sunset. The terraces were created after two mineral hot springs eroded away rock over thousands of years and left carbonate mineral deposits that give the site its unique shape.

Socotra Island, Yemen. Located in the Indian Ocean, the Island of Socotra has plant life that's found nowhere else on the planet. One of the more notable species is the dragon's red trees. The canopies look like flying saucers.

Thor's Well, Oregon, USA. On the Oregon coast, there is a natural hole that seems to be draining the Sea. Sitting on the edge of the Oregon coast near Cape Perpetua, a going, a gaping, seemingly bottomless skin hole swallows the unbroken stream of sea water around it. Thor's well known as the drainpipe of the Pacific, the well is actually a hole in the rock that only appears to drain water from the ocean. According to some researchers, the well probably started out as a sea cave dug out by the waves before the roof eventually collapsed and created openings at the bottom and top through which the ocean sprays. The huge hole is likely only around 20 feet deep, but it still manages to produce amazing sights.

White Sands National Monument, New Mexico. The largest gypsum deposit in the world a serene expanse of glittering, white sand that's located in the Chihuahuan Desert. The gypsum that forms these gently sloping dunes comes from a nearby ephemeral lake that has high mineral content. As the water from this lake evaporates, minerals remain, which then form gypsum deposits that are carried by the wind.

Bioluminescent Beaches, Maldives. To experience the Maldive's magical glowing beaches, you can visit any of the 1190 islands that comprise the South Asian sovereign state. Some of the top spots to see this natural light show - the result of bioluminescent plankton - include Athuruga, Reethi and Mirihi.

Marble caves Chile. Located in Patagonia on Lake general Carrera, Chile's Marble Caves (also known as the "Marble Cathedral") were created more than 6,000 years ago by waves that eroded the rocks. The cavern's stunning colors vary as water levels fluctuate throughout the year.

Mono Lake, California, United States. Mono Lake which spans 65 square miles is known for eye-catching, calcium-carbonate structures known as tufa towers. With a high salt content, this ethereal lake is also extremely buoyant.

El Yunque National Forest, Puerto Rico. Situated outside of San Juan, El Yunque National Forest earns the distinction of being the sole tropical rainforest in the US National Forest system.

The Stone forest China. As the name implies, this is basically a 150- square mile forest made of stone - and it's a whopping 270 million years old. The giant, otherworldly pillars are ancient karst formations, created by water and wind erosion, as well as seismic activity. The forest also features caves, waterfalls, ponds, and lakes, as well as an ungrounded river.

Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye, Scotland. Skye's enchanting Fairy pools are only accessible on foot via the Glen Brittle forest - but it's worth the hike to see the clear waters of these natural pools in person.

Beach of the Cathedrals, Galicia, Spain, is on the Northwest coast of Spain. It is the name given by the tourism industry to Praia de Augas Santas (translated from Galician: 'Beach of the Holy waters'). The beach is located in the Ribadeo Municipality, in the Province of Lugo (Galicia), on the Cantabric Coast, and it lies about ten kilometers to the west of the town of Ribadeo. Its name is derived from its cliff formations. It has been declared a Natural Monument by the regional Ministry for the Environment of the Xunta de Galicia.

Milford Sound, New Zealand, was created by glaciers during the ice age, this fiord is located in the Southwest of New Zealand's South Island. It's known for towering Mitre Peak, plus rainforests and waterfalls like sterling and Bowen falls, which plummet down its sheer sides. The fiord is home to fur seal colonies, penguins and dolphins. Milford Discovery Centre and Underwater Observatory offer views of rare black coral and other marine life. Boat tours are a popular way to explore.

Jeju Island, South Korea. Jeju province encompasses the South Korean island of Jeju in the Korea Straight. It's known for its beach resorts and volcanic landscape of craters and cave-like lava tubes. Hellasan Mountain, a dormant volcano, features hiking trails, a crater lake at the 1,950m summit and nearby Gwaneumsa Temple. The island is also known for its specular lava tubes (Caves formed by cooling lava).

Mt. Erebus, Antarctica. It may seem hard to believe that there are volcanoes in the Arctic. Mt. Erebus, the world's southern most active volcano, dates back 1.3 million years and stretches a whopping 12,448 feet above sea level.

Kjeragbolten, Norway. Kjeragbolten is a 177-cubic-foot boulder nestled in a mountain crevice. It's surprisingly accessible, which makes it a very popular hiking and climbing destination.

Iguazu Falls, Argentina and Brazil, Spanning Argentina and Brazil, Iguazu falls are part of a massive waterfall system that has around 275 waterfalls.

Tianmen Cave, Zhangjiajie, China, Situated 5000 feet above sea level. Tianmen Cave is one of the highest naturally-formed arches on the planet. Visitors have to mount a 999- step "stairway to heaven" to reach the site.

Harbour Islands, the Bahamas, known mostly for its pink sand beaches, Harbour Island remains mostly untouched by humans, at least compared to the rest of the Bahamas. The island's other draws include Devil's Backbone, a coral reef filled with marine life, and Dunmore Town, whose pastel-coloured homes will charm any visitor.

The Blyde River Canyon is a 26 km long Canyon located in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It is the third-largest canyon on the Earth, behind the Grand Canyon and the Fish River Canyon. Unlike the Grand and Fish River Canyon, the Blyde River Canyon is a "green canyon" which is dominated by subtropical vegetation.

Thousands of years ago, the Egyptian civilization reached the highest level of excellence, science and technology became the center point of attraction for the rest of the world. The Egyptian priests believed that everyday morning Flamingo from heaven laid a golden egg in the sky and that was the Sun. Today, even a kid won't believe this funny story because all of us know that Sun is a very large fireball, so large that we can hardly imagine. Being born from that fireball, the Earth was terribly hot. Actually, in that period the Earth was in gaseous form. Terrible earthquakes changed the shape of the Earth from time to time. Somewhere large mountains and somewhere deep Sea. After that comes the sign of life on the Earth. From smallest microbes to pre-historic gigantic animals to the evolution of humans. Mother Earth has seen it all. History of evolution makes its way through continuous ups and downs.

Every moment the Earth is enduring unbearable pain which awe can not even imagine. Still, she never deprives us of love and affection. Our ungrateful behaviour hurts her but She never gets revengeful. In times of any natural calamity, people tend to say that the Earth is taking revenge but I strongly protest against this kind of irresponsible comment because unconsciously and unknowingly we are digging our own graves on a regular basis. Our destructive activities are mostly responsible for the devastating, miserable and unavoidable natural calamities. Earth is home to millions of species. Just one dominates it. Us. Our cleverness, our inventiveness and our activities have modified almost every part of our planet. In fact, we are having a profound impact on it. Our activities are now the drivers of every global problem we face. The only solution left to us is to change our behaviour, radically and globally, on every level. In short, we need to be more Earth- friendly. We need to conserve more. A lot more. Earth is our only home and she is our greatest friend. We need to take care of her. We are a family, the whole of the human race is a family and we need to stick together. Our parents need to educate us about the values of Mother Earth, about her greatness, about her selfless love and remarkable patience. Earth- knowledge should be incorporated in our primary syllabus. I have already chosen a name for that book, Primary Earth - Knowledge Book. This book will teach us about the importance of the Earth in our life, why should we consider her as our greatest friend, why should we love nature, trees, birds, flowers, and why should we keep our environment clean and green.

Once children adopt the Earth-knowledge, it will be transmitted from one generation to another. Every other subject will be a lot easier if we can achieve this Earth knowledge. There are so many religious rituals around this world and people observe them with dedication and can sacrifice many things with a smile to pay homage to tutelary deities. Every day mega sports events, carnivals and fairs are arranged all over the world but we forget to care for our greatest friend. We tend to forget that Mother Earth is our only home. Singing and listening to our 'National Anthem' generates raised feelings of pride and patriotism and symbolizes the identity of an independent nation. Any country can dominate and rule over another part of the planet but the Earth is absolutely independent. She hears only to herself. A small flower blooms in the jungle, a tiny bird twitters on a sunny morning or a river flows in its own rhythm; Natural rhythms guide all that we do - our very existence. Anywhere we go, the river flows in the same rhythm and the mountains stand majestically with the same dignity. No fencing, no barrier can divide natural beauties. This barrier or fencing and man-made rules astonish our supreme Mother. She smiles but she never becomes annoyed because she knows, people will do these funny things as they are ignorant. The day is not so far when people of the whole world will sing the Earth-Song or World-Anthem even before any Nation's National song. Holding each other's hands tightly, we will sing the Earth song with tears of joy. The song will say -

The Earth is purest
    And greatest of all
She is sweetest
    And sweetest is her call.

This song will unite every citizen of the Earth and will wipe out any kind of discriminations among the human race. A new era is coming with a new light of hope where all the students of all the schools of the world will sing the Earth song and a special class will be allotted to teach the students about our Mother Earth.

I am a dreamer who dreams for a fearless and absolutely independent world filled with love. I believe that one day this world will rise up and live up to its creed. May I explain the full form of love in my own way?
L    - Lovely
O    - Ode to
V    - Violence free
E    - Earth

"You may say I'm a dreamer but I am not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us and the world will be as one" Before I finish the chapter, a few lines are rushing to be penned. There are a huge number of natural beauties on the Earth and all are created naturally. The mysteries of these creations are mostly unrevealed. We have always felt a need to write down the history and chronology of every creation of the humankind. But the greatest creator, the Earth has never shown any interest to boast about her works. All her greatest and most beautiful creations are the silent living documents of her greatest ability to create. Even a flower with its curves of the petals and the flawless lines harmoniously encourages us to cultivate beauty in our own lives and our surroundings. To witness a flower thriving, petal by petal is an actual phenomenon no scientist or artist can replicate.

When I write about the natural creations of the Earth I can feel a telepathic connection pulling me towards those friends who never speak but we can understand our love and affection to each other through silent conversation. Yes, I am talking about my silent friends- trees. It's true, I am their spokesperson and I hope I am successful in building a bridge of love between you and my friends. Now it's a connection of the soul. Now we all are soul-mates. The soul is an eternal and distinct spiritual essence that exists in everything and I wish to ask my tree- friends - can you tell me the name of the artist who is the creator of all these living- creations throughout the world? I know all of my friends will sing together with immense joy - it is the Earth. Mother Earth, our Supreme Mother Earth is the greatest creator of all.

When we get to see any extremely good or finest natural beauty, we tend to say - oh, it's heavenly! None of us have seen Heaven or the beauty of the Heaven, because it's a state of mind, merely an imagination.  The Earth is no imagination, it's the hardest reality which we get to enjoy everyday but we don't feel it even for a moment. Our ignorance makes us believe a place of natural beauty as heavenly. Anything beautiful we see, it's earthly, with all its essence. Mother Earth is drawing the most charming and living painting in thousands of forms and shapes on the biggest canvas.

All are holiest
    We must call
All are purest
    We must call
The Earth is one
    And the Earth is all
The part may large
Or it may be small.
