Mohidhar was sitting for a long time gazing at the water of the lake. The little boys and girls scattered all around the place were gradually becoming impatient, because Mohi Sir told them that they would have their classes today in the field, under the trees, beside the lake. But while chatting with them Mohi Sir suddenly stopped and had been sitting silently since then.
They looked at each other and then Rajat of class IX called their Sir. After being called a few times an unmindful Mohidhar looked at him. Then he asked in an enthralling voice, "Well, Rajat tell me, how have we come to the Earth?" At such a question when the surprised students were staring at him, then Pradip, a student of class XI put up his hand and said, "I know Sir, may I tell?" Mohidhar smiled and said, "Ok, tell us". Pradip said, "Sir my grandmother knows everything and she has told me" - his classmate Rintu spoke in an impatient tone, "Tell us whatever your grandmother has told you".
Pradip started, "Grandma said that in that sky above us is the abode of God. God used to stay in a huge place in the sky alone, so he used to feel very sad. That's why God decided to create such a creature who would laugh, cry and talk whenever he wanted. He did it as soon as he thought of it, but after creating them God became worried, "I created human beings but they don't have teeth and nails like tigers, strength like elephants, they cannot fly like the birds - then how will they survive?" After contemplating for some time God gave a weapon to mankind - intelligence.
With the power of intelligence, human beings became the best creatures on Earth. But at the same time, God also told them, "I shall send you to such a place which you will find to be so beautiful, there are so many rivers, mountains, streams, forests and whenever you look up, you will see my place. Enjoy all the treasures of the Earth, but if I find out that you have misused and destroyed those treasures, and then I shall never bring you back to my place. I'll send you directly to hell". Finishing his words Pradip looked at his teacher with a beaming face. Sandip said, "Sir, Bapon is feeling ashamed to tell you something." Mohidhar was surprised and asked, "What is it that you are feeling ashamed to say?" Bapon said, "Sir, a few days back I saw a film-Bahubali-II. I saw that when Bahubali's uncle was killing him, even then Bahubali was saying — "Please look after my mother. I was wondering how much Bahubali loved his mother!"
"You are right. Every man should love his mother like this. A mother brings the child into this world. We are able to see the amazing beauty of Mother Earth due to our mothers only. On the other hand, if the Earth would not have existed, then how would our mothers have given birth to us? All of us are born because the Earth has given shelter to all of us in her bosom. So the Earth is everyone's mother. We have to love Mother Earth like our own mother. We have to say -
Mother Earth is everyone's mother
So we must love her
Then only all of us shall stay well
And acquire the ray of hope."
Mohidhar asked Pradip, "Has your grandmother told you all these?" Pradip nodded in affirmation. Mohidhar was surprised and asked, "Is she educated?" Feeling ashamed Pradip answered, "No Sir, she cannot even sign her name." Mohidhar said in an astonished tone, "Yet she knows all these, but we, who are much educated and being wise have become doyens of the society, think ourselves to be the authorities - we don't know anything about this subject and don't give importance even if we know. People don't have the basic sense of right and wrong that if the Earth is destroyed, then their affluence or pride will also cease to exist."
Taking a deep breath Mohidhar Sir said, "Don't be such eminent persons who don't have the basic sense of right and wrong. I want all of you to earn this primary knowledge and to spread it among all the others. Can't you do it?" All the children put up their hands and said together, "Yes Sir, we can." Their sir smiled with content. Just then Mintu, a student of class VIII said, "Sir I am thinking of something for quite sometime, but haven't told anyone out of shame thinking that everyone will laugh at me. May I say it now?" "Of course, we have gathered here today to say and listen to whatever is hidden in our minds. So tell us what it is." Mintu started, "Well sir, the house in which we live, be it one-storeyed or a hundred storeyed building - has pillars so that it does not collapse. Sir, there is this huge sky and you have told us the other day that the sky is the roof of the Earth. Wherever on the Earth, we go, we can see this sky. But why the Sky is not standing on the pillars? Then it can fall down anytime on our head Sir?" All the students started laughing loudly at Mintu's words.
Mohidhar Sir stopped their laughter with a gesture of his hand. He gave a surprised look at Mintu and said, "You are such a strange boy! You have suppressed this question in your mind for so long - you could have told me." Mintu lowered his head in shame. Mohidhar continued, "That this question has occurred to you shows that you, all of you will be able to do it. Those people who with their serious faces and bald heads are sitting in high positions in big offices think only of their own houses, cars, bank balances, etc. In other words, they are totally submerged in their nasty selfish interests. In their blood, they have the tendency to snatch all the happiness and comforts from the Earth by hook or by crook. Not only that, they have inserted this poison in the minds of the future generation too. From the beginning, they have become addicted to the dreadful rat-race. Throughout the world there are competitions to rob the Earth, to suck its life force. People have forgotten the Creator and his mercy. They never remember that the Earth created by Him is adorned with rivers, streams, flowers, fruits, under the sea there are innumerable valuable treasures and under the Earth are huge mineral and natural wealth. Our Creator has not made our planet Earth - unsuitable for the development of life, like the other planets!
Can't we remember for a moment within our busy schedule of work during day and night, how grateful we should be towards our Creator? We should be grateful He has sent us here as the greatest creatures on Earth, which has enabled us to enjoy its boundless beauty to our heart's content. But His greatest boon is turning into a terrible curse only due to our limitless greed, extreme irresponsibility and lack of basic knowledge. The thought which has come to you has a pearl of great wisdom and philosophy hidden inside it. You will not understand it now, but you surely will when you grow up. Think about the tremendous amount of kindness, compassion and love our Creator has for us; whenever you go in the whole Earth, you will see the same sky.
This sky is the roof of our Earth. Yet, nothing like bricks, sand, cement, and iron were needed to build the roof. This roof is floating in the emptiness of space. Almost every day we read in newspapers, watch on Television that the roofs of so many tall buildings have broken down and many men are killed. But has anyone, anywhere ever heard till today that the sky or the roof of the Earth has collapsed and men are either trapped underneath or killed?" So far all the students were enthralled as they were listening to the words of Mohidhar Sir. Now they shouted together, "No Sir. We haven't heard." Mohidhar Sir smiled a little, cleaned the sweat from his forehead with his hand and said, "Then you think our Creator is such what a great architect! He has created such a roof floating in the space, which has existed for billions of years without any pillars; whereas we construct the roofs of our houses with so hard and strong pillars, but no one knows when those roofs may collapse on our heads - no engineer can give any guarantee about this. Contemplate for once, and you will find that your hearts will be filled with happiness and infinite gratitude towards our Creator. Your eyes will be filled with tears and you will want to call everyone loudly and convey these words. Well, don't you want to do it?"
"Yes Sir, we want, we want", shouted Shreya, a student of class IX. Mohidhar Sir looked at Shreya with a smiling face, then looking at others said, "I wanted to see this desire in all of you. God, our Creator sends his order, direction, and advice - everything to the Earth through little children like you. All of you are very dear to Him.
You see, we hate the lizards found in the walls of our rooms and drive them away whenever we see them. But that insignificant lizard understands the difference between truth and falsehood easily & supports the truth by making a clicking sound. Then we, who are extremely proud to be the greatest creatures on Earth, must realize the truth that before every work and knowledge we need to acquire this wisdom that we shall live only if the Earth lives. Isn't it right? "All the children shouted together, "Yes Sir, absolutely right."
